PCB Reproduction: Space Harrier/Outrun Deluxe Motor Drive
I thought I’d plug the PCB we’ve been working on over at UKVAC.

It’s an open-source Circuit Maker project where we took the hard-to-find motor drive PCB for Outrun and Space Harrier Deluxe and made our own.

PCB Repair: Lethal Enforcers
Problem
Lots of things as it turned out, but initially it just sat in a constant reset within milliseconds of power-on.
The list:
- Watchdog reset.
- Graphics corruption.
- No sound.
- No P1 gun input.

Whilst watching my kids running around at the cricket club, I find out the scoreboard is broken – it’s been like that for a few weeks. “Blown fuse” apparently. I volunteer to have a look…

PCB Repair: Rolling Thunder (again)
John here again with another Rolling Thunder but a different problem .
Problem
Sprites flicker and disappear in a ‘noisy’ manner. They don’t disappear in a ‘block’ manner, rather random pixels flicker as if the sprites are being blown away. Once warmed up, this seems to lessen, although one that sticks around the longest is a priority issue:

John here (first ever blog!)
A game we bought 20 years ago and, after a few failed attempts, was consigned to the cupboard of shame.
At boot it goes through the usual few pages of random tiles/sprites but then freezes.
